PlayStation Store Gets Netflix Makeover - Auto-Playing Trailers and Smart Genre Tags Coming to PS5!
Sony is testing a major PlayStation Store redesign featuring Netflix-style large tiles, auto-playing game trailers, and smart genre filtering. The beta rollout began April 12 for select PS5 users in North America and Europe, promising better game discovery.
Sony is overhauling the PlayStation Store with a Netflix-inspired design that makes finding games faster and easier. Beta testing reveals large visual tiles with auto-playing trailers and intelligent genre tags replacing the traditional grid layout.
The Big Changes
The redesigned PS Store ditches compact icons for massive Netflix-style tiles. Each card displays artwork, description, and price upfront. When you hover over a tile, the game's trailer automatically plays—no clicking needed. This gives instant gameplay previews before visiting store pages.

Smart Genre Filtering
Games now display intelligent tags describing their core characteristics. Starfield shows "Open World," "Space Exploration," "RPG," "Story Rich," and "Cinematic." These tags are searchable, letting users combine multiple criteria to find exactly what they want. Below the featured carousel sits a "Browse By Mood or Genre" ribbon for easier navigation.
When It Launches
Currently limited to select beta users in North America and Europe as of April 12, 2026. Sony hasn't announced a global rollout date yet, but positive feedback could accelerate the release later this year.
