Dallas residents should brace for a rough night ahead. The National Weather Service is forecasting a dramatic shift in weather across North Texas, with heavy storms expected to roll through the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex this evening and into the overnight hours.

Tonight's Threat

The National Weather Service has issued a forecast showing a 90% chance of precipitation for Dallas tonight, with showers and thunderstorms expected after 10 PM. Low temperatures will hover around 69°F, with new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half an inch possible.

A broken line of thunderstorms is expected to move across portions of North and Central Texas this evening into the overnight hours. While the severe threat appears low, a few storms may be strong to marginally severe with strong winds, hail, and frequent lightning.

A Stormy Week Ahead

Tonight won't be the only wet night this week. Local forecasters at WFAA are calling for a stormy week ahead across the DFW area, with the potential for some strong storms and heavy rain. Wednesday brings a 70% chance of continued showers, keeping umbrellas out across the metroplex for much of the week.

Stay Safe

Residents are advised to avoid low-lying areas prone to flooding and stay off roads during peak storm hours late tonight. Lightning safety remains a top priority. The NWS Fort Worth/Dallas office will continue monitoring storm development throughout the evening.
